We Americans have the highest prison populations in the world in ratio to the population of the country. Only 1/3 of these are for violent offences. And don't let me get into the disparity between white to black conviction rates. It cost us tax payers 24 billion dollars to incarcerate non-violent drug offenses last year which is well over 5 times the amount our national government spends on child care in the same time period. This has done nothing to curb drug crimes. While our population has increased by <40%>500%. Could this be due to the Forfiture Act which allows the government to seize all assets of people convicted of commiting drug crimes? Face facts, as americans, we must take resposiblity for policing our communities, becoming vigilanties for the good of communitites.
